A dividend is a corporate action consisting of a payment in cash or shares to shareholders. It represents a distribution of the company's earnings to a specific class of shareholders and is subject to board approval. Not all companies pay dividends.

Where to view them

At Folionet, you can view received dividends in your History section or in your Monthly Account Statements, available on both the app and web platform.

Processing

Dividends are managed automatically by our custodian, Apex Clearing LLC. By default, cash dividends are credited as available balance. For automatic reinvestment, please contact support@folionet.com.

Withholdings

Dividends are subject to IRS tax withholding. The rate depends on the account holder's country of residence and the company's origin. In most cases, the standard withholding is 30%, unless a tax treaty applies.

Reinvestment

  • Self-Investing Accounts: Credited in cash by default. Reinvestment must be requested via email.
  • Advisory Accounts: Reinvestment may be activated automatically depending on the selected portfolio.
