When opening an account, a Form W-8 (for non-U.S. residents) or Form W-9 (for U.S. residents) is completed electronically.
The W-8 form is valid for four (4) years. If not updated upon expiration, the IRS may apply tax withholdings on the account.
Folionet is not responsible for withholdings resulting from expired forms. We proactively notify clients via email when their form is near expiration to assist in the update process.
